Just what every home cook needs, an oven that knows more about cooking than they do. That's the idea behind the new Inspiro oven from Electrolux.
This new oven is supposed to be the greatest ever, and with a £1000 ($2000 or so) price tag, it had better be. The Inspiro tells the cook exactly what to do with anything that needs to be cooked. All you have to do is program what you're doing into the oven and it will even tell you what shelf to put the dish on.
I personally think this is a bit much. The new Electrolux Inspiro is being marketed to people who want to entertain at home, but can't cook under pressure, which, I'm sorry, makes no sense to me. Even before I got into cooking, it was not difficult to use an oven. But I suppose everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses. Do you think that this oven would be useful, or is it overkill.

Hmm - A "GPS Navigator" for the kitchen? Might be useful for some, but it seems like overkill to me. Baking isn't that hard, is it?

This is only useful if it then tells you to stick your head in the oven when it deems you are a threat to the mission. :)

As long as I can put it on "full manual" mode it's fine. But don't help me that much. I bake because I love to bake. I don't need a bread machine with an attitude.

If you cook that poorly and have that much extra money...just have your dinner catered. Seriously. The mega-mart will also happily roast something and make sides to go with it, for reasonable prices. Buy a dessert and you are all set, just move it all into your own casserole dishes so you can pretend it's your own recipe.

It would really only be useful to the people who can't afford it- while I as a recent college grad who's still learning to cook would love an oven that could tell me how long to cook certain things for (I'm paranoid about undercooking and still have no idea the times for a lot of things), I don't have 2,000 to spend on an oven for my little apartment.
